Pistia stratiotes

This tropical species is occasionally found in the New York metropolitan area. Probably discharged from aquaria or water gardens, it usually does not persist more than one season in our area, except perhaps after the mildest winters.

This species has also been reported from an unspecified locality in Orange Co., NY.
