General Discussion

Salvinia is a genus of small, floating, mostly tropical, aquatic ferns. Salvinia minima Baker has been reported from a few ponds in Richmond and Rockland Cos., NY; and Fairfield Co., CT; but these most likely represent deliberate introductions or escapes from aquaria or water gardens. Salvinia is not sufficiently cold hardy to survive our winters.
