This species is also reported from unspecified localities in Hudson, Middlesex, and Monmouth Cos., NJ; Orange, Richmond, and Westchester Cos., NY; and Fairfield Co., CT.
There are two recognized varieties- var. rubrum, native to Europe; and var. humile, native to the western North America. Both varieties are herein mapped as one unit.
