General Discussion

This species is native to the southeastern U.S., ranging as far north as southeastern Pennsylvania. It is often used as a landscaping plant and has been reported from a handful of sites in our area. Most (all?) of these reports most likely represent cultivated specimens, no definitive adventive populations have been seen.
