There is disagreement by botanists whether Bidens tripartita L., Bidens connata Muhl., Bidens eatonii Fern., and Bidens heterodoxa (Fern.) Fern. are four narrowly circumscribed species, or all four entities should be subsumed into a more widely circumscribed B. tripartita. They are herein mapped as one unit until further research can clarify the occurrence and distribution of these taxa in the NY metropolitan area.
