General Discussion

This species has been historically reported from the tri-state area (the northeastern-most part of its range), but no specimens have yet been seen to confirm this. An investigation by Lamont,2008 concludes that previous reports of S. erecta in New York were partially based on the misapplication of scientific names and a misunderstanding of the confusing taxonomy of the S. speciosa/S. erecta complex. Further investigation is needed to determine if this species occurs in northern New Jersey.
