General Discussion

Quercus x fernowii Trel. Proc. Amer. Phil. Soc. 56: 49. 1917.

This hybrid oak results from the crossing of white and post oaks. Although specimens have not been observed, there is one record from Staten Island based on the (New York Flora Atlas). Since both parental species are common along the coast, it is expected to occur, with leaves intermediate in characters between the two parents.
