Carex aestivalis has been documented from areas adjacent to the northern edge of the metropolitan region- Dutchess, Sullivan, and Ulster Cos., NY. It could occur in Orange and Putnam Cos., NY and Sussex Co., NJ; but no specimens have been seen.
