General Discussion

This Asian cherry is often planted as an ornamental tree and there are suggestions that it occasionally becomes adventive in our area. However, the handful of reports are often ambiguous regarding their cultivated status and this species is also often encountered in a sterile state- making positive identification difficult. It may eventually be confirmed in our area, but no definitive specimens have yet been seen.
